Intro to Hawaiian Quilting

Join Jessica Ahlstrand Kwan, professional quilter and author of School of Quilting: The Definitive Guide, for a one day class to learn the art of Hawaiian Quilting.  Students of all skill levels will learn the skills and techniques necessary to create a beautiful Hawaiian quilt block. She will discuss Hawaiian quilting history, color theory and traditional techniques. Students will learn to use a pattern (which will be provided in class) to cut out a quilt design, hand baste it to backing fabric, then use needle turn appliqué to finish the design. She will also discuss hand quilting methods to complete the block at home.

Class includes Hawaiian quilt block pattern, but please click the supply list to see the other required supplies prior to class!

CLASS POLICY:

At The Cotton Patch, we strive to provide a welcoming, creative class environment. We want to make sure that every student has the best experience possible. Seats are reserved on a first-come basis once payment is received, and our classes require at least 4 students to run, unless otherwise noted. If we need to cancel due to low enrollment, we will notify you at least 7 days in advance and issue a full refund. If you cannot attend, you are always welcome to send a friend in your place. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 14 days in advance to receive store credit. Cancellations made less than 14 days before the class are non-refundable and are ineligible for store credit. 
 

Student Responsibility:

• Please arrive no more than 15 minutes early so the class can begin on time. 

• Review the supply list and gather your materials before the day of your class. Students are expected to come to class prepared unless otherwise stated in the description. 

• You are welcome to bring snacks or lunch and use our classroom refrigerator and microwave.

• Remember to take all your belongings home with you. Items left will go in our lost and found. After seven days, any items left will be donated or thrown away. Any perishables left will be thrown away immediately.

• If you require additional assistance, please contact the store in advance of the class.
