Simply Flowers, Big, Bold & Bright: Collage Freddy's Way
This class is an homage to Freddy Moran, a beloved local artist who began quilting at age 60 and became renowned for her vibrant, colorful improvisational art quilts.
Inspired by Freddy’s playful approach to color and design, students will learn her improvisational techniques to create bold, free-form flowers. These unique floral designs will be machine appliquéd onto a fabric background using a raw-edge appliqué method.
By the end of class, you will have created your own 32" x 40" wall-hanging masterpiece. So let the fun begin! Bring as many fabrics and colors as you like—after all, Freddy believed that more was always better!
No pattern required—just cut, appliqué, and create!

Classes taught by local instructors:
You may cancel up to 14 days before the class date to receive a store credit. Cancellations made within 14 days of the class are not eligible for store credit.
Classes taught by national or out-of-town instructors:
You may cancel up to 30 days before the class date to receive a store credit.
Can’t attend?
You are welcome to send a friend in your place. This is completely acceptable and encouraged.
If The Cotton Patch cancels a class:
You will receive a refund or, if you prefer, a store credit for the class fee.

| Instructor Bio: | I’ve been sewing since I was a young girl, learning on my mother’s Singer sewing machine—with a finger guard firmly in place! I started by making doll clothes and garments for myself, and in the early 1980s I was introduced to quilting. Since then, I haven’t stopped cutting fabric into pieces and sewing them back together again. Over the years, I’ve explored a wide variety of quilting techniques and can honestly say I enjoy them all. I love taking a traditional pattern and adding my own creative twist. Hand appliqué is especially rewarding and soothing, while working with unusual prints and fabrics provides a fun and inspiring challenge. Although I eventually traded hand quilting for free-motion quilting, I continue to appreciate the speed, versatility, and beautiful designs it makes possible. I’ve been fortunate to learn from many talented quilt artists throughout the years, and I truly enjoy helping others develop their skills, gain confidence, and discover their own creative quilting potential. |
